By the way, you might notice that I keep using ‘type’ and ‘sub-type’ interchangeably but I pretty much always mean ‘sub-type’ so sorry about that ;; . Notes: A yandere will usually fall be a mix of multiple sub-types and may also switch or develop into different sub-types. Also, some of these are debatable as to whether they're yandere or not so feel free to filter out what you don't like.

Intensity Levels

This is just a general guideline I’ll follow. A yandere might not fall into one of these perfectly but will instead loosely fit the description of one.

• 1- Very mild. Often very jealous and clingy but in a romantic way. Would never do anything to hurt the love interest or others but may make empty threats. At most, he may be somewhat manipulative or controlling. Often painted comedically.
• 2- Still somewhat light hearted most of the time but more intense and can be upright scary at times. Will fantasize but will likely not act out these fantasies in real life. May do crazy shit though when pushed to his limit.
• 3- Extremely obsessive and/or jealous but will at least somewhat take what the love interest wants or doesn’t want into consideration, whether he ultimately decides to listen to their pleas or not. Will willingly follow through on threats when he feels that taking action is for the betterment of his relationship with the love interest. Slightly more logical and compassionate than Intensity Level 4 but definitely willing to be far more cruel than Level 2.
• 4- Absolutely bat shit crazy. The love interest can’t put a stop to him, let alone anyone else. Obsessiveness and jealousy is through the roof. Will do anything he feels may benefit him in his goal of pursuing the love interest, no matter how sadistic or inhumane. Really doesn’t give a fuck whether the love interest resists or not. You can count on him to follow through on threats.
